Evidence-based, but not impersonal
The clinic combines clinical rigor with plain language, warmth, and practical family guidance.
About the clinic
The Speech Dysphagia Language Clinic was founded in 2008 by Merzia Maskati Shewakramani and serves children, adults, and geriatric clients across a wide range of communication, developmental, feeding, and counseling needs.
The clinic brings together speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, educators, and support staff under one roof, with in-person sessions in Mumbai and tele-therapy where appropriate.
Families often come to SDLC looking for more than a diagnosis or a weekly appointment. They need a team that can explain what is happening clearly, work collaboratively, and help them make steady progress over time.
Clinic approach
The same principles shape every session, regardless of the discipline or the challenge.
The clinic combines clinical rigor with plain language, warmth, and practical family guidance.
Therapists, psychologists, educators, and caregivers often need to work in step rather than in silos.
Progress is rarely one-dimensional, so the clinic is built to support families through changing goals over time.
Therapy works best when children are engaged. Sessions follow the child's interests and pace, so progress builds through genuine connection rather than instruction.
